Data mining and text mining are the two hot reserch areas in bioinformatics and computational biology. Department of Bioinformatics at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore has a separate research lab for data mining and text mining. All the research activities related to mining are carried out under the supervision of Prof. N. Jeyakumar. With a strong knowledge and vast experience in the text mining area, Prof. N. Jeyakumar has established the lab in 2009 with a vision to perform internationally acceptable research projects. The major areas of research include data mining, text mining and microarray.
